Porsche unveiled its new flagship model, the third-generation Panamera, a high-performance hatchback, on Thursday.

Like its opposite E-Hybrid variants in the latest Panamera lineup, the Turbo S E-Hybrid represents a harmonious fusion of electrification and high-performance driving capabilities.

A hybrid powertrain typically comprises an internal combustion engine, combined with a single electric motor, and an advanced 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The entire lineup also features all-wheel drive capabilities.

The new Panamera’s estimated EPA range should surpass the 20 miles achieved by its predecessor, with the 17.9-kwh battery likely yielding an improved figure. At present, there are no published estimates available for this cutting-edge technology.

In the Porsche Turbo S E-Hybrid model, the internal combustion engine (ICE) is a powerful twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 unit. The precise engine can be found in the previously unveiled Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. Porsche credits the implementation of single-scroll turbochargers and heightened combustion chamber pressures for optimizing engine efficiency, especially when hauling heavy loads.

Porsche previously announced that it has seamlessly integrated the electric motor into the housing of the dual-clutch transmission for its latest electric motor design. The automaker noted that the electric motor can recover up to 88 kW, a capability that will also contribute to enhanced electrical range.

The dual-engine setup yields a staggering combined peak output of 778 horsepower. The combined output totals 771 horsepower, allowing for brisk 0-60mph acceleration in just 2.8 seconds; top speed is listed at 202 miles per hour, while its lap time around the Nürburgring comes in at a remarkably quick 7:24.17.
