Volkswagen announced a major milestone: the introduction of its 2025 ID. The e-Buzz, an electrified reincarnation of the iconic Microbus, is slated to debut in the US market with three distinct trim levels: the Professional S, a more premium Professional S Plus, and a limited-edition Launch Edition that will be available for the initial release only.

The 2025 US ID. While exact details on Buzz’s trim levels and pricing are still forthcoming, Volkswagen has confirmed that all three variants will come equipped with a 91-kilowatt-hour battery pack when the vehicle launches. The RWD styles can boast a potent 282 horsepower, while the 4Motion AWD models deliver up to a maximum of 335 horsepower. Volkswagen has not mentioned whether or not the ID will be available in the US market. The new electric vehicle, Buzz, will come equipped with a standard charger, but specific details regarding its energy efficiency have yet to be disclosed.
The US ID. The Ford F-250 Buzz trims its options into three distinct rows, setting it apart from the European counterpart that boasts a more compact layout with two rows and a reduced wheelbase length.
Volkswagen has yet to announce the pricing for each trim level. Because the US market has a distinct preference for smaller displacement engines and more compact vehicles. Although Buzz won’t be manufactured in the US, it won’t be eligible for the $7,500 IRS electric vehicle tax credit. According to Volkswagen’s website, the company expects that its credit arm, Volkswagen Credit, will offer an electric vehicle lease bonus tied to the federal tax credits available at the time of lease.
Professional fashion-inspired designs will likely be exclusive to rear-wheel-drive (RWD) models, featuring a bench seat that accommodates up to seven passengers. The Professional S-Plus and 1st Version models offer rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options.
On Professional S Plus RWD models, bench seating is standard, offering the option to upgrade to a captain’s chair package that accommodates up to six passengers. The RWD’s initial lineup exclusively features a rear-facing bench seat. Captain’s chairs are a standard feature on Professional S Plus and 1st Version 4Motion AWD trim levels.
The Professional S Plus features a cutting-edge head-up display that prominently showcases essential information directly in front of the driver, while the innovative Space View cameras offer a bird’s-eye view of surroundings beyond the vehicle. The vehicle features a premium Harman/Kardon sound system, powered by 700 watts and equipped with 9 high-quality speakers.
Need to tow issues? The ID.4 has been equipped with a manually retractable tow hitch, with Volkswagen stating that towing ratings and full specifications will be released closer to the vehicle’s launch.

Wrapped in a striking two-tone exterior, the inaugural iteration draws inspiration from the Professional S trim, boasting unique 20-inch wheels, rugged roof rails, and prominent “1st Version” branding on its flanks. The inaugural edition’s interior style, dubbed Dune, features a coastal motif, accompanied by heritage-inspired floor mats and commemorative items for the proud owner. This innovative vehicle features an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, advanced Space View cameras, and a cutting-edge Flexboard design.
Exterior and inside options
The US 2025 ID. The Buzz’s exterior features a nostalgic nod to the classic Volkswagen design language, with oversized elements reminiscent of its iconic forebears, coupled with a pronounced sense of overhang and an expansive, glassy presence that wraps around the vehicle. All vehicles in this fashion category arrive equipped with 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
The twin power-sliding rear doors boast an innovative Straightforward Open and Shut mechanism, effortlessly allowing occupants to easily access the spacious third-row seating. Additionally, the traditional sliding windows have been upgraded to fully powered functionality. The vehicle also features keyless entry and a power-operated tailgate for added convenience.
A vibrant palette of options – the colours are fun and versatile, depending on the trim stage, offering two-tone choices that pair a neutral Sweet White prime with bold accent hues: Energetic Orange, Pomelo Yellow, Blue Charcoal, Mahi Inexperienced, Metro Silver, Cabana Blue, or Indium Gray beneath. The three additional single-tone options are Metro Silver, Sweet White, and Deep Black Pearl.
Volkswagen is offering a curated palette of three distinct interior hues across its entire ID series. Buzz trims:
- The Moonlight’s interior boasts rich, dark brown leatherette seats featuring elegant white piping, complemented by stylish blue accents on the door inserts and a luxurious dark wood-grained trim on the dashboard, all set against a backdrop of sleek black headlining.
- The Dune trim level combines understated grey leatherette upholstery with subtle clay-coloured accents on the piping, door inserts, and a minimalist wood-inspired dash trim, creating a refined and restrained aesthetic.
- With its richly hued leatherette upholstery featuring bold yellow accents, the Copper trim evokes the sophisticated style of the mid-century era, complemented by warm brown door inserts and a subtle wood-grain finish that adds depth to the overall aesthetic.
