Recently, spy shots emerged of the upcoming Zhiyin electric SUV from Dongfeng Voyah, clad in camouflage. The automaker has secured a gross sales licence from China’s regulatory authorities as of May, with plans to introduce its new model in Q3, targeting the youthful demographic of family buyers. Zhiyin marks the debut of the company’s first global mannequin following the successful rollout of its innovative “Let’s Voyah Abroad” strategy.
By 2030, Voyah’s ambitious “6655” strategy aims to establish a global presence by targeting six continents, with operations in over 60 countries, while opening 500 sales and service centers and achieving cumulative foreign sales exceeding 500,000 vehicles.
The Voyah Zhiyin’s architecture is reportedly rooted in Dongfeng’s innovative Electrical Smart Safety Structure, or ESSA, and may feature the latest iteration of the “Lanhai Energy-BEV” technology.
The Voyah Zhiyin will offer both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel-drive options, paired with ternary lithium-ion battery packs supplied by CATL.
- Rear-wheel drive: a pair of electric motors delivering either 215 kW (288 horsepower) or 230 kW (308 horsepower), coupled with a 77-kilowatt-hour battery pack and boasting a remarkable range of up to 625 kilometers on the CLTC cycle.
- Long-range all-wheel drive: 215 kW or 230 kW electric motor, 109 kWh battery pack, up to 901 kilometers of range on a single charge (based on the CLTC cycle).
- Four-wheel drive: equipped with two independent 160 kW (215 horsepower) electric motors, a high-capacity 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and boasting an impressive range of up to 570 kilometers on the CLTC cycle.
As well as, the Voyah Zhiyin will boast an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform and cutting-edge 5C battery supercharging capabilities, enabling it to achieve a remarkable 450km range increase after just 10 minutes of charging.
Measuring 4,725mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,636mm (1,653mm) in height, the automotive features a 2,900mm wheelbase, situating it as a mid-sized sport utility vehicle. As part of their strategic collaboration, Voyah and Huawei announced a significant partnership in January this year, with the Voyah Zhiyin set to feature Huawei’s advanced cockpit and driving systems.
The exterior of the Voyah Zhiyin features a harmonious blend of its Lantu Zhiyin sibling’s sleek design, paired with a distinctive closed entrance face, a radiant Voyah brand logo, an elegant through-type LED light strip, and discreetly integrated door handles that seamlessly disappear into the overall aesthetic. Pursuant to the declaration data, Lantu Zhiyin will deliver a low-drag, high-performance sports wheel rim, measuring 20 inches in diameter. The automotive may also be manufactured at the Dongfeng Nissan plant in China.
According to an insider’s footage, the overall aesthetic is characterized by simplicity, comprising a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a suspended central infotainment display, and a layered dashboard design featuring two wireless charging pads at the top and a storage compartment accompanied by two cup holders at the base.
