At the 2022 Bangkok Sizzling Rod Customized Presentation, the showstopper was a highly customized Sportster Forty-Eight Harley-Davidson café racer crafted by renowned designer Chakkaphan Rungsukcharoen, also known as Mark of FatBoy Design.
Mark was awestruck by his father’s sleek Lamborghini Murcielago SV, which inspired him to complete the build in a remarkably short span of just 60 days, with valuable input from fellow enthusiasts. The collaboration with Nattapat Janyapanich’s Slayer Home, an expert in carbon fibre craftsmanship, yielded an extraordinary carbon fibre bodywork, comprising an aerodynamic entrance fairing, sleek gas tank cowl, and aggressive angular tail unit.
The Sportster’s stance was transformed to suit its cafe racer aesthetic by pairing taller Ohlins piggyback shocks at the rear with Showa upside-down forks upfront, which were then integrated with custom FatBoy CNC timber triple tree mounts. With bolt-on aftermarket parts installed, the bike’s aesthetic transformed to echo designs inspired by FatBoy Design’s clip-on handlebars, Efficiency Machine’s controls, and Roland Sands Design’s Tracker Grips.
The wheel design features machined aluminium hoops supplied by renowned manufacturer RSD, paired with custom-painted brake calipers inspired by the esteemed Lamborghini brand. The 1,200cc V-twin engine received both aesthetic upgrades and efficiency enhancements, featuring a Two Brothers Racing exhaust system, an Efficiency Machine high-flow air filter, and an electronic control unit (ECU) re-calibration.
The FatBoy-designed bike stunned onlookers by winning the coveted “Greatest Cafe Racer” award and earning a prestigious private “Best in Show” nomination from renowned expert Shiro Nakajima of 46 Works?
