Ride1Up Revv1 DRT unveiled as high performance off-road electric bike
SHARE

Ride1Up revolutionized the e-bike market by introducing the revolutionary Revv1, an innovative electric moped-style bike, in early 2023, marking a significant expansion into a diverse range of eco-friendly vehicle options. The highly effective e-bike was a game-changer among major manufacturers like Super73, offering high-performance riding and moto-inspired styling at an affordable price point. The corporation has unveiled a revamped iteration of their iconic bicycle model, introducing the Revv1 DRT, specifically designed for thrill-seeking excursions on rugged terrain.

Moped-style electrical bicycles have become particularly popular among younger and more daring riders, which makes it unsurprising that some owners of Revv1 models opted to modify their vehicles to enhance their performance in off-road environments.

With its existing attributes, the bike excelled in offering ample power, rapid velocities, and a comprehensive suspension system. Ride1Up has responded to demand from many of its enthusiasts by offering a factory-prepared scrambler model, which is built upon the robust foundation of the Revv1.

The all-new Revv1 DRT boasts a raft of updates tailored to off-road excursions, including refreshed suspension, ruggedized tires, lightweight spoke wheels, robust off-road fenders, revised lighting configurations, and optimized body geometry for enhanced handling and traction.

The most striking visual enhancements appear to be the rugged, chunky off-road tyres and the newly installed longer travel DNM coilover shock in the rear, accompanied by a prominent piggyback reservoir. A Molle panel can be obtained to fill the triangular opening at the base of the torso, offering riders the versatility of attaching standard Molle-compatible gear from a wide range of sources.

The Revv1 features a high-performance 1,000-watt continuous-rated rear hub motor delivering 95 Newton meters (Nm) of torque, solidifying its position as one of the most effective e-bike motors currently available on the market today.

The e-bike comes equipped with a default speed limit of 20 mph (32 km/h), but can be upgraded to support Class 3 operation, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 28 mph (45 km/h) when pedal assist is engaged.

While additional bike unlocking might be achievable, this typically involves navigating a series of obstacles and subsequently reaching out to the company directly for assistance. As soon as the vehicle is fully unlocked, a significant increase in pace becomes achievable solely through throttle control. During my rigorous testing of the Ride1Up Revv1’s road mode, which took place over the past 12 months, I achieved a top speed of approximately 37 miles per hour or 59.5 kilometers per hour.

While acknowledging that such velocities may not be sanctioned for electric bicycles on public thoroughfares in many regions, it is crucial to note that exceeding these limits could potentially reclassify the vehicle as a motorcycle for highway utilization in certain areas? Electric bike manufacturers typically specify maximum unlocked power and speeds intended solely for off-road and private property applications.

While the Ride1Up Revv1 DRT is engineered specifically for off-road excursions, it’s still prudent to exploit the full potential of its potent motor in various terrain applications?

Most features of the bike remain unchanged from the original Ride1Up Revv1. The e-bike is equipped with a familiar powertrain, featuring a substantial 52V 20Ah (1,040 Wh) battery pack comprising Samsung 50E 21700 cells, a mid-mounted 3.5-inch display identical to previous models, and reliable 4-piston 203mm hydraulic disc brakes for consistent stopping power.

The DRT remarkably reduces the weight of its full-suspension street-version, the Revv1, by shaving an impressive 4.5 kilograms to a sleek 41 kilograms or just 91 pounds. While that’s a substantial e-bike, it’s unlikely to deter enthusiasts from using it for freeriding and bunnyhopping.

The Ride1Up Revv1 DRT has launched today, boasting a special pre-order offer priced at just US$2,495. Deliveries are expected to begin in early June; however, there is no guarantee that the promotional value will persist.

Notwithstanding Ride1Up’s reputation for offering competitive pricing relative to the industry, it was recently announced that sale prices on various models will remain stable throughout the year, unlike many other companies whose prices fluctuate with seasonal sales.
