Swytch, renowned for crafting the most affordable electric bike conversion kits available, unveiled its newest iteration today. The UK-based company’s Swytch GO package launches with an attractive pre-order price tag of £299 (or $349 for North American customers) in early bird mode, but be aware that there is a small caveat.

The key takeaway is that the pre-order value is attractive if you’re willing to join a waitlist, but it doubles as a direct purchase option.

To capitalize on strong demand, Swytch is introducing a staggered release strategy, aiming to level out production peaks and meet the fervent appetite for new models that has characterized previous launches.

The popularity of Swytch can be attributed to its extremely affordable entry point, which, combined with a modern design and effortless setup, has significantly boosted sales. With a staggering 85,000 Swytch kits now empowering e-bike enthusiasts globally, the DIY trend for electrical bike conversions shows no signs of slowing down in popularity.

According to Swytch’s CEO, Oliver Montague.

It’s an exhilarating moment for Swytch. As consumers seek affordable and eco-friendly transportation options, the Swytch GO Package stands out as a compelling solution. Established has never been more accessible, making it simple for anyone to experience the benefits of electric bicycles.

The introduction of the Swytch GO package brings a fresh update to the 250W entry-level motor, which remains consistent with previous iterations. The addition of a Velcro-mounted GO battery offers users greater flexibility in terms of installation options.

The earlier Air battery, still available as a suitable alternative to the GO battery, was attached to the handlebars. With the innovative GO battery design, cyclists can now seamlessly integrate the power pack into the frame’s entrance triangle for enhanced ergonomics and streamlined aesthetics. The adjustable stem allows for seamless compatibility with a variety of bike types.

The GO battery is offered in a range of options, including GO, GO+, and GO++, each capable of delivering anywhere from 15 to 60 miles (25-100 km) of pedal-assisted range. While air-powered batteries are renowned for their compact size, allowing them to fit snugly in a cyclist’s pocket, the GO battery’s smaller dimensions enable it to be discreetly stored in a bag, thereby reducing the risk of theft when left unattended on the bicycle.

The GO batteries weigh in at approximately 2-2.6 kilograms (4.5-5.7 pounds), depending on the mannequin used, and their lightweight design makes them easy to handle. The devices boast IPX6 ratings, ensuring they withstand all-weather driving conditions, while also meeting UL standards for safety and security.

Equipped with a mere 250W entrance hub motor, the Swytch GO package caters specifically to cycling enthusiasts already familiar with pedal assist technology. Nonetheless, thrill-seeking enthusiasts will likely be delighted to learn that an optional hand throttle is available as an add-on. The optional component for this product can be installed in a designated area according to regulatory guidelines, enabling throttle-assisted propulsion that does not necessitate pedalling to activate.

As part of Swytch’s ongoing strategy to supplant the tried-and-true expertise and practicality of their kits, CTO Dmitro Khroma explained:

“Our goal is to democratize electric bicycles, making them universally available.” To address client financial constraints, we decided to launch an entry-level offering, pricing the Swytch package at £299 for preorder, without sacrificing quality, efficiency, or battery protection. With advanced quality and security features, these batteries assure unwavering reliability by being waterproof, impact-resistant, and shock-resistant, thoroughly tested to meet the highest standards, providing users with peace of mind when charging and reusing them safely at home.

By reengineering the battery pack to accommodate larger cells, integrating the facility electronics within the pack itself, and devising an extremely intuitive mounting solution utilizing Velcro straps that allows for flexible placement anywhere on the bicycle frame, we successfully reduced costs significantly. As a welcome surprise, the result was an e-bike package that boasts simplified assembly and quicker deployment, plus an expanded range of up to 60 miles.
