Lectric XP Lite 2.0 unveiled as new $799 best-bang-for-your-buck folding electric bike

Completely unsurprising to anyone, Lectric Ebikes has achieved yet another milestone. North America’s premier e-bike manufacturer has just unveiled a significant upgrade to its popular XP Lite model, adding substantial value-enhancing features. Introducing the innovative Lectric XP Lite 2.0, featuring a Gates carbon belt drive and advanced hydraulic disc brakes.

Despite introducing a plethora of new features and upgrades, the corporation remarkably succeeded in preserving the original model’s renowned $799 price point.

At Lectric, it’s business as usual: introducing fresh and updated e-bikes at prices hundreds of dollars lower than industry standards.

Since its introduction as the lightest e-bike in Lectric’s lineup at an affordable starting price of $799, the foldable XP Lite has garnered widespread popularity among riders nationwide, ranging from college students to recreational vehicle enthusiasts, according to the company.

Weighing in at just 49 pounds (22 kilograms), the XP Lite 2.0 boasts a considerable weight advantage over many heavier 60-70 pound folding electric bicycles that we frequently cover. The system delivers a consistent 20 mph (32 km/h) speed boost, mirroring the performance of other top-tier Class 2 e-bikes in terms of throttle and pedal assistance.

The diminutive rear motor boasts a relatively moderate 350W continuous power output, but can surge to an impressive 819 watts at its peak. Notably dubbed the Stealth M24 motor, this innovation boasts an astonishing 400% reduction in noise levels during travel, promising a significantly quieter experience. While the prospect of a 400% reduction in noise can be daunting, it’s more relatable to consider the noticeable decrease in gear whine and increased wind rush experienced during rides.

The latest e-bike model is now available in five vibrant colours, including a fresh lavender option, offering more choices than ever before.

The base model starts at $799, featuring a 7.8Ah (375Wh) battery, while the long-range option costs $999 and includes a 14Ah (672Wh) battery. The two options offer significantly different ranges for pedal-assisted use, ranging from a maximum of 45 to 80 miles per charge.

All XP Lite 2.0 versions feature hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm rotors, a technology Lectric introduced across its entire product range last year. For those seeking to upgrade their single-speed ride to a low-maintenance option, consider the XP Lite 2.0 JW Black model, which features a reliable Gates Carbon Drive belt system. Priced at $899 with the standard battery option and $1,099 for the extended range version. Gates belt drives are highly regarded in the industry for their reputation as a low-maintenance, whisper-quiet, and oil-free transmission solution that boasts an extended lifespan compared to chains, while also being more environmentally friendly throughout its entire life cycle. For cyclists who prefer to avoid the hassle of maintaining a rusty chain or greasy pedals, these shoes are an excellent option.

The Lite 2.0’s batteries are certified to UL 2271 standards, while the entire bicycle meets UL 2849 guidelines for safety. As the e-bike industry evolves, certifying products to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards is becoming increasingly prevalent, with certain regions like New York City mandating that all e-bikes sold possess UL certification.

The XP Lite 2.0 features 20×2.5-inch slick tyres, boasting a robust 3mm Hippo Pores and skin liner, as well as pre-slimed tubes designed for superior anti-puncture protection. Notably, the bike sports new “BMX-style” handlebars with an enhanced color scheme, accompanied by a right-side half-twist throttle. The bike’s compact design allows for effortless folding, making storage and transportation a breeze.

The XP Lite 2.0 arrives in eco-friendly packaging that is both recyclable and biodegradable, highlighting the brand’s commitment to sustainability. The bike comes mostly pre-assembled for quick, tool-free assembly in just one minute. Pre-order options are currently available with anticipated delivery dates set to begin in July.

Electrek’s Take

As a long-time enthusiast of the XP Lite series, I’m thrilled to report that the newly released XP Lite 2.0 surpasses all expectations. Can an e-bike with hydraulic disc brakes and cozy pedals deliver for just $799? Consider upgrading to our Gates carbon belt drive system for just an additional $100 – effortless shifting and reduced maintenance await. Signal me up!

Needless to say, the Lite 2.0 is designed to conserve energy rather than waste it on excess power output. While a smaller motor reduces torque, its benefits lie in maintaining a lightweight and agile ride. For riders who typically tackle challenging terrain, the XP 3.0 presents an attractive option, offering ample opportunities for riders seeking enhanced shock absorption or gear variety.

For those seeking a compact and lightweight design, the XP Lite 2.0 offers several attractive features.
