2025 Honda Civic Hybrid

The Honda Civic Hybrid utilizes a 2.0-liter inline-four engine operating on the Atkinson cycle, integrated into Honda’s innovative two-motor hybrid system, generating a combined power output of 220 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. In a vehicle’s powertrain, one type of electrical motor is specifically designed for propulsion, closely tied to the wheels’ rotation. Its connection to the fuel engine relies on a clutch system. In contrast, the opposing motor functions primarily as a generator, linked to the engine through various means. The propulsion motor primarily drives the wheels, with the exception of occasional use during mild freeway cruising when it disengages to allow the gasoline engine to provide peak efficiency.

Unlike the Toyota Corolla hybrid, energy is constantly directed towards the front wheels exclusively, with all-wheel drive not being a feature.

With its prompt torque supply, the Civic surges off the road like no previous model, excluding those with an Si or Type R designation. Merging onto a freeway poses no particular challenge, and the hybrid’s acceleration is remarkably urgent, far surpassing the sluggish pace of a typical pedestrian Civic.
